With the NRL and AFL now over for another year, our attention turns to the NFL and the race for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
There have already been the odd surprise, both in a good and bad way depending on who you follow, but all in all it has been an exciting start to the season.
Bring on Week 5!
NFL Week 5
New York Jets @ Cleveland Browns
Coming into the season, the New York Jets were seen as a team that were so bad they were almost guaranted the first pick in the 2018 Draft. However, they have certainly shown that they have other ideas.
After starting the season with two losses, the Jets kicked into gear with solid 20-6 win over the Dolphins. They then backed this up with a tough 23-20 win over the Jaguars, who had incidentally hammered the Ravens 44-7 in London the week before.
It’s fair to say they’ve got a bit of a groove happening right now. Which is something that can’t be said for the Cleveland Browns.
Yes, it’s a different season, but so far, it is the same result for Cleveland. Four games for four losses. Unfortunately for them, we think Number 5 is coming up here.

Buffalo Bills @ Cincinnati Bengals
After a couple of rough years, the Bills are looking at a possible playoff berth after starting the season at 3-1 which includes a win over the highly rated Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta.
Now that is no mean feat. They currently lead the AFC East division over the Patriots as well, but they haven’t locked horns as yet in 2017. That will come in Weeks 13 & 16, so they
need to make hay while the sun shines as they say so that they aren’t relying on defeating Tom Brady and co to make the Playoffs.
Their foe this week are the Cincinnati Bengals who have been a real disappointment so far this season. Yes, they got a win last week but it was against Cleveland.
That isn’t impressing anyone. Or so you’d think… Considering we’ve found the Bills as outsiders with Sportsbet for this game, the Bengals must have impressed someone there.
They didn’t impress us though, so we’re all over the big price for the Bills.

Baltimore Ravens @ Oakland Raiders
The big news for this one is that Raiders QB Derek Carr is just about a certainty not to play in this game. This opens up an opportunity, we think, for Marshawn Lynch and his offensive line to take over.
The Ravens are busted up and haven’t been able to look after QB Joe Flacco. You just know Khalil Mack and his opportunistic Raiders defence will be licking their lips.

Green Bay Packers @ Dallas Cowboys
A bit of an upset here, but if anyone can engineer a win when his support cast are injured or inexperienced, it is Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. The long turnaround won’t hurt either.
The Cowboys will be looking to bounce back after a tough loss to the Rams last week. They had their opportunities, but they couldn’t quite get the job done. Could the Packers also find a way to get past them?
Our gut feel is “yes”.
